2021 Wrap Up: Accelerating eCommerce Tangiblee Style

The past two years have propelled the world into a ‘new normal.’ While many of us yearn to get back to the old normal, such as shopping, socializing and working out mask-free, other aspects of the new reality have evolved past the point of no return.

One such “new normal” is online shopping. Analysts are predicting that eCommerce revenue will exceed $990 billion in 2021 setting us up for the first trillion dollar year in eCommerce sales. As consumers flock online, retailers seek to differentiate themselves and retain customers who can now easily browse the catalogs of several competing retailers within minutes. Retailers who will win in this online everything world will be the ones who deliver highly interactive and personalized experiences.

Many retailers continue to offer “me-too” experiences. They fear the time and effort to provide immersive shopping experiences, powered by Augmented Reality (AR) and virtual 3D imagery, is costly and will drain valuable resources. With Tangiblee, that couldn’t be further from the truth. We have designed our platform to allow retailers to deploy immersive shopping experiences in days, not weeks or months. We are committed to making sure that quality AR and virtual 3D experiences are accessible to every brand and retailer.

So, while 2021 may have presented many challenges, we are fortunate to deliver capabilities retailers desperately need as they migrate more sales online. In fact, in the midst of global chaos, Tangiblee is wrapping up a banner year and is continuing to evolve along with the world’s top brands.

Some Tangiblee highlights from 2021 include:

  • Grew ~340% since the beginning of COVID
  • Delivered immersive online shopping experiences to hundreds of websites, including coverage of 80% of the top 5 worldwide luxury jewelry retailers
  • Scaled the capabilities of our platform for AR and immersive shopping to 1 billion API requests per month and as many as 2.4 million user pictures for virtual try-on
  • Grew our global team to 150+
  • Launched an all-new website
  • Delivered on innovative features like ring-stacking including wall art and multi-SKU bundling for AR

Besides scrambling to keep up with market acceleration and demand, we are excited to announce that we will be showing off our latest features and speaking with interested retailers and brands in person at the upcoming NRF Bigshow – January 16-18 at the Javitz Center in New York (Booth 4161).

While we can’t accurately predict the state of travel and masks in 2022, one thing is certain. AR and immersive online shopping experiences will only continue to grow. And for retailers that want to “win” in 2022, we highlight the following predictions:

If you are a retailer, the time is now to see what Tangiblee can do for your online conversions. In a matter of weeks, you can join our roster of happy clients driving increased revenue per visitor, as described in our case studies here.

Frequently Asked Qustions

No. Virtual try-on adds a visualization layer on top of a product; it doesn't replace accurate product data or existing imagery. In a quality-checked pipeline, the brand's existing product photo is actually the foundation the result is built from.

It places the brand's real 2D catalog photo of the item onto a hand, wrist, or ear from a reference photo, rather than generating a new image of the product from scratch. The item's proportions and details come from the actual product photo; the AI handles scale, angle, and blending onto the shopper's photo. This is different from older try-on technology, which mapped a manually built 3D or 2D asset onto the shopper using fixed geometric rules, and different from generic AI image generators, which typically synthesize the product rather than place a real photo of it.
