How Bonaventura Lets Shoppers Personalize Bags and iPhone Cases Before They Buy

A charm on a bag is a small detail with a big effect on whether a shopper feels the product is truly theirs. The problem is that most online stores can only show a handful of pre-styled combinations in product photos, leaving shoppers to imagine everything else.
BONAVENTURA, a Milan-founded luxury brand established in 2013, is known for its handbags, wallets, iPhone cases, and accessories, with a strong commitment to exceptional materials and craftsmanship. The brand uses premium leather from Perlinger, a German heritage tannery with more than 100 years of history, with its leather goods crafted by highly skilled artisans. BONAVENTURA already sells bag charms as a standalone product line and offers free engraving on select items, so personalization is a natural extension of the brand rather than a new idea for its shoppers.
The brand had already worked with Tangiblee to solve a related but different problem: helping shoppers judge the size and scale of a bag online. With Adjustable Silhouette, Compare, and What Fits Inside embedded on select storefronts, Bonaventura gave shoppers a way to see products against a reference model, compare items side by side, and understand bag capacity, closing the distance between a product photo and real-world understanding.
Personalization was the next question. Once shoppers could trust that a bag was the right size, the next thing they wanted to know was: can I actually make it mine?
The Challenge
Bonaventura's charm and iPhone case options multiply quickly, with different charm styles, colors, and leather finishes, including its Shrink Leather and Nobile Leather lines, paired with different case options across current iPhone models. Static product photography can only show a fraction of those combinations. A shopper interested in a specific charm pairing had no reliable way to see it before adding it to cart, which meant either guessing, contacting support, or giving up on the more personalized option altogether.
This is a common friction point for accessories brands: the product itself is highly configurable, but the online shopping experience is not. Shoppers are asked to imagine a combination that the brand could simply show them.
The Solution
Bonaventura implemented two Tangiblee features to close that gap:
Bag Charm Builder lets shoppers select and combine charms visually on a bag, seeing the finished combination before purchasing rather than reconstructing it from separate photos.
Phone Case Builder brings the same visual, interactive logic to Bonaventura's iPhone case line, letting shoppers configure options and see the result directly on the product page.
Both experiences sit on the product page itself, alongside the sizing tools Bonaventura already uses, including Adjustable Silhouette, Compare, and What Fits Inside, which is embedded on select storefronts. A shopper can move from checking scale, fit, and capacity to building a personalized combination without leaving the page or switching tools.

Why It Worked
Personalization only builds confidence if a shopper can see what they're choosing, not just select options from a list. Charm Builder and iPhone Case Builder turn a set of abstract choices — this charm, this color, this case finish — into a single visual result a shopper can evaluate before buying.
This also extends the logic Bonaventura already established with its sizing tools: don't ask shoppers to imagine the product, show them. The same principle that helped shoppers trust a bag's scale now helps them trust a personalized combination is actually the one they want.
Results
On Bonaventura's Japan storefront, where Bag Charm Builder launched April 2, 2026, usage data from April 2 to July 22, 2026 showed strong adoption: engaging at an 86.54% rate, with 14.02% adding a charm combination to cart directly from the widget, and charms sold daily up 191.1% compared to the previous period of the same length.

Conclusion
For BONAVENTURA’s shoppers, the experience turns a range of product options into something they can visualize and feel confident about before buying. For the brand, it extends a partnership that began by addressing uncertainty around bag size to another equally real friction point: making a highly customizable product easier and more intuitive to shop online.
Building on this use of visualization technology, Charm Builder takes the experience from understanding a product to personalizing it. Customers can explore how different charms look on a bag before making a choice, helping them create a combination that feels personal to them.
For BONAVENTURA, this represents a thoughtful collaboration between craftsmanship and technology. Digital tools support customer decision-making and self-expression without replacing the craftsmanship or human value behind the product. In this way, technology helps bring BONAVENTURA’s timeless products and their genuine value closer to each customer, creating a more personal and intuitive online experience.
